01 · Context
Rethinking what social sharing could feel like
I was interested in the tension between social platforms as tools for connection and the pressure they can create around performance, visibility, and constant engagement. Ecstasis began as an attempt to design a slower, more intentional social experience.

02 · Core Idea
Sharing through being and doing
Rather than centering posts around captions or metrics, each post is built from a small set of expressive signals: an image, location, song, verb, and feeling. The format is designed to communicate what someone is experiencing without requiring them to perform for an audience.

03 · Product Structure
Four spaces with distinct intentions
The product is organized around four primary spaces: SHARE for creating a post, ME for personal reflection, US for social connection, and FIND for discovery. Each area was designed to have a clear purpose while still feeling like part of one cohesive experience.

04 · Interaction
Setting expectations before interaction begins
Onboarding introduces the philosophy of the platform before asking users to participate. The sequence explains what Ecstasis removes, what it values, and how ideas like ecstasis and galvanizing shape the experience.

05 · Build
Designing and developing the product end to end
I built Ecstasis in React Native with Expo, using Firebase for authentication and an AWS-backed architecture with API Gateway, Lambda, Postgres, and S3. Building the product myself let me move continuously between design decisions, implementation constraints, and interaction refinement.

06 · Final
A social experience designed to feel more present than performative.

Reflection
Ecstasis reinforced how closely product strategy, interaction design, and technical implementation shape one another. It also deepened my interest in designing digital products around a specific emotional experience rather than adding features for their own sake.
